Operations level training objectives: incident management\, large animal behavior/handling\, relocation techniques for ambulatory and down animals\, safety considerations\, simple vertical lift techniques\, mud/water/trench/ice rescue considerations\, barn fire prevention and response\, transport incident response\, natural disaster preparedness and response\, basic and specialized equipment\, resource allocation\, medical management and field euthanasia considerations. \nThe course meets and exceeds FEMA Type 1 Large Animal Rescue Standards for USAR TF. \n24 credit hours are approved for veterinary professionals licensed in North Carolina. \nCourse Instructors: 4Hooves Large Animal Services\, LLC (owners Justin and Tori McLeod\, along with their team members\, are subject matter experts and have long-standing careers in emergency services\, been involved with the equine and livestock industry\, and provided large animal technical rescue emergency response and training for more than two decades)

SUMMARY:Animal Emergency Response Awareness Course (NC-8-100)
DESCRIPTION:The NC Animal Emergency Response Working Group has developed an awareness course to introduce skills and resources for responders that may be  involved in animal incidents. Have you ever thought of what you would do when you respond to an incident that involves a horse trailer\, animal stuck in a pond\, loose livestock obstructing traffic\, or a barn fire?  Would you be called to assist? If the answer is possibly then this training is for you.  Some groups that would benefit fire/rescue departments​\, law enforcement​\, animal control/animal services\, veterinarians​\, emergency management​\, technical animal response organizations​\, animal associations​\, trained wrecker services personnel with equipment​\, state agencies such as NCDA&CS and NC Wildlife Services.​ The AERWG manual can be found at ncaerwg.org under the Documents tab.
