This course provides classroom, simulation and live vehicle operations environments.
This course will cover basic safety requirements, minor preventive maintenance, vehicle check procedures, and basic vehicle operation. The student will also participate in various driving simulated and actual scenarios to demonstrate competency in vehicle operation.
The live vehicle operations section is designed to measure driver proficiency in handling emergency vehicles, to include Prime Movers. Through its use, the progress of each emergency vehicle driver can be measured over a period of time. This section is designed to provide situations in which the driver’s skill, judgment, and knowledge of the limitations of the emergency vehicle, are required for effective maneuvering.
The Trailer Towing Operations module will help verify that personnel are proficient in the skills of safely hooking, pulling and backing a trailer of the size and weight that their department/agency needs require.
